Las joyas de marcasita se hicieron populares en Portugal a principios del siglo XX como réplicas en plata de piezas tradicionales de joyería portuguesa del siglo XVIII, que estaban hechas de oro y diamantes. El nombre Marcasita proviene de la gema natural de estas joyas.
